High Limit Blackjack
Putting blackjack strategies to the test with thousands of dollars per hand.
As the name would suggest, high limit blackjack games provide significantly higher limits than the traditional versions and give players the chance to play for huge amounts of money. Needless to say that the payouts are also bigger considering the higher bets and these special tables are often times surrounded by red ropes in land-based casinos, only being available to a select group.
While the rules of the game remain the same and only the minimum and maximum bets change for high limit blackjack, the tables generally only see very experienced players which don’t just rely on luck to get a winning hand. Blackjack is one of the few casino games in which the player can use basic and advanced strategies to lower the house edge and thus improve the overall results.
High limit blackjack tables generally allow bets of thousands of dollars but this mostly depends on the casino. It is very common for regular customers to receive even higher limits if the floor manager believes that he is good for it. When it comes to online casinos, the limits are set for each game but the more popular sites will normally have at least a few blackjack titles with high limits. Of course, the term “high limit” can mean something different to different players as someone with a small bankroll can consider a $5 blackjack bet has being high. Others with a much larger account balance can easily afford to spend $1,000 on a bet, so it can also come down to the possibilities of each player.
The general rule of thumb is similar to that used in poker and it advices players to consider their bankroll when choosing a table. If the maximum bet is between 1-5% of the total amount of money available, the blackjack table is affordable. Anything higher is not recommended.
A good bankroll management will allow you to stay in the game for longer periods of time and ride out the bad periods. It is always better to choose when to leave the table, rather than be forced to stop playing due to lack of funds. This is particularly important in high limit blackjack. Another advantage of playing bigger bets is the increased payouts, with an emphasis on blackjack, which pays 3 to 2. As a result, on a $1,000 bet, a blackjack will have a payout of $1,500.
